INTRODUCTION:
This is the first tablet from Toshiba after the long wait with 10.1 inch display and other
preinstalled fascinating widgets and apps. This tablet is loaded with the Android Honeycomb
3.1 OS which is the seamlessly fast and easy to operate OS and starts at $429 with 8GB
storage.

The brief review of the Toshiba Thrive:
Hardware:
Firstly, let’s go with the dimensions and weight. This 10.1 inch display tablet is a 0.66 inch
thick which is almost twice of Samsung Galaxy 10.1. Regarding weight the Thrive may be
considered little bulky by some users which is 1.66 pounds, slightly heavier than first
generation iPad. Thrive got the narrow and longer dimensions with 10.97×6.97 inches. But
still we can consider it a lighter one in a tablet range.
The back side is a rubberized finish which makes it look little ordinary, but the plus point is,
it provides you the tight grip to your hands. Also you can change this back cover which is
available in five vibrant colors which costs $20 each. Another distinguishing factor of this
tablet is its camera. The camera is placed on the shorter side of the tablet which allows you to
capture photos in the portrait mode. It has a back camera of 5 megapixel and a front camera
of 2 megapixel, the only thing about this the users may don’t like is the silver strip around the
camera (especially for the front camera) which can be distracting. Another surprising feature
of this tablet is that it possess full size USB and HDMI ports along with micro USB port. It
also includes a full size SDXC slot, with a 3.5 headphone jack and mic port, including a 30
pin connector. And the LEDs which shows the Bluetooth status, battery level, and power
status.
The 10.1 inch display is packed with 1280×800 pixels which is identical to most of the slates.
But the less wide viewing angles may lower its grades. But it is barely noticed due to the
technology used by Toshiba. The small speakers of Thrive produce a loud sound, which can
be fairly audible in a room or on a bus stop. And the software designed by Toshiba to
enhance the audio quality makes it an outstanding playback device. Another bombshell from
thrive is its removable battery, which is a 23Wh, 2,030 mAh runs for eleven hours on standby
mode. It completely depends on your lifestyle and daily usage, the average life of a battery is
6:25 hours.
Operating System and Performance:
Like other tablets Thrive coupled with the NVDIA Tegra 2 SoC, with a boot time of 20
seconds and consists of 1GHz processor. The Toshiba Thrive have a more efficient file
management system ‘Toshiba File Manager’ installed on Honeycomb 3.1 which makes the
file transfer, selection, read, write more efficient. The Tegra 2 Processor provides a more
specific graphics orientation with more detailing in gaming and animation.
So before concluding let’s check out the main points:
Toshiba Thrive is a complete tablet which we can say a mini laptop with full size USB and
HDMI ports and full size SDXC slot along with a solid back lid. And the built-in audio
software and file management system makes it a true performer.
